Some of my friends and acquaintances are complaining sometimes that their dog is destroying things inside the house and especially when they are left alone. Often, it happens that dogs are really bored when they are left alone in the house. In order to prevent that, you can use one really fun game for feeding your dog, even if you are not at home with him.
My dog, Jack-‘the Blondy’ golden retriever :), is a working dog, so…he never gets his food for free. For his daily food, sometimes, I’m using the Everlasting Ball (left picture) and the Labyrinth Snacky Ball Treat Dispensing Dog Toy (right picture).
These balls are keeping him busy and at the same time he is chewing and cleaning his teeth, he still has to work for his food and most importantly, he’s having the time of his live.
Of course, there are many types of ingenious toys for dogs, but these two I love the most because I can use the dog’s own food, I don’t have to buy special treats for him for this and they are coming in different sizes, even for small dogs.
Here is how you will have to use them correctly, both are functioning on the same principle:
1.Take the ball and put inside the food (if your dog’s food is bigger than the holes of the ball, at start, to teach your dog what that ball does, you will have to put inside smaller food and when the ball roles on the ground the food gets out easily).
2. After your dog knows this game (after 1,2 days he will know :), or even faster) you can put inside the ball: half his normal food and haft the smaller food.
3. After your dog manages to empty the ball, you can start using only his normal food without the smaller food, and this is the moment when the real fun begins!
Also, the Everlasting ball can be used as a toy for outside, just put a rope through it and you have a ball toy!
So…if you want to keep your dog busy, to prevent boredom, as long as you’re not home or you only want to feed your dog, this is a fun way to do it!
I hope you enjoy my post about how to transform feeding into a fun game for your dog. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to leave a comment.
P.S.: You don’t have to be afraid that they are going to be ruined by your dog, I have had these balls for over a year now and they are looking almost new.
A happy dog means a happy you!
